I love that you said your career goals right now are to coast and be a good manager! We are taught that we have to constantly grow in our careers and always want to go for the next big thing. I don't like that concept. I just had this conversation with someone the other day how I don't desire to move up because I currently enjoy my job, it allows me the flexibility I want to also enjoy my personal life and I get paid well.
Yes! There are a lot of trade offs the higher you go, especially in middle mgmt. If you're going to work that many hours/have such a large team/more accountability to the bottom line, you might as well be making that money for yourself, not for another company IMO! Pay me fairly and give me flexibility and I'll be happy where I'm at!
